Replying to “It’s my first semester at ETH studying physics. I had mentally prepared myself for the stress and I do...” Dont stress too much, especially in physics it's very difficult to really unterstand many topics of the first year because you lack the mathematical foundation for most of the things. There were soo much things I didnt understand in the first semester and I passed with a very decent grade even though I did almost nothing during the semester(and I'm not smart. especially compared to the people here). Exam preparation phase will be long enough for you trust me. Just try to keep up more or less with the lectures and try to solve some exercises and then you'll be good. I lost so much time and energy loosing my mind about topics I couldn't understand in the first year that didnt even matter
