CommonRoom is a space for ETH students to find other students who may understand what they are going through. The idea is simple: sometimes what helps most is not general advice, but talking to someone who has felt something similar before.
Here, you can stay anonymous, choose tags that describe your situation, browse profiles, and send a chat request to someone whose experience or perspective feels relevant to you. You can also join as someone who is open to listening, sharing insight, and supporting others.
You can create a profile, select tags that match your struggles or experiences, search for people with similar topics, and start conversations in a low-pressure way. Chat requests are first sent by email and only become an active chat if the other person accepts. You can also read thoughts and questions from the community and post your own thoughts anonymously.
CommonRoom is for ETH students who feel stuck, lonely, overwhelmed, unsure, or simply in need of exchange. It is just as much for students who want to give something back by listening and sharing what they have learned through their own experiences.
CommonRoom is not a crisis service, not professional therapy, and not a substitute for urgent support. If you are in immediate danger or need acute help, please use the Get Help Now page and contact an appropriate emergency or counselling service directly.
If you are new here, start with the Onboarding page and the Rules. Then complete your profile, choose your tags, and explore who might be a good fit for a conversation.
If you already have an account, you can sign in. If you are new, you can register here.
