When i started at ETH i had a lot of trouble with my living situation: Basement Rooms with no windows, unfriendly roommates and an horrible landlord. But now, after moving 2 times, i have a really cool, (relatively) cheap place with lovely people which i can feel at home. So for every person maybe struggling with housing maybe take that as an motivation.

Replying to “How do people find genuine friends well into their studies?” In my experience it is more common than you would first would think and i think that is also the trick. One often assumes that other people are in a rigid friend group, but in reality a lot of people are open for new friendships. So i would recommand just try. Meet new people (f.e. at an public event), do a little small talk and if you have a nice vibe ask if they want to go together in the mensa and continue the talk.

Replying to “How do you actually make friends at ETH beyond the people you happen to sit next to in the first week? :')” In my experience a lot of people search for friends so most are happy if you just start a chat with them in a lecture break no matter the week. Besides that i can also recommand clubs in VSETH or just planning a small public events for student like a run or a picknick

Replying to “I need a semester project but don't have the energy or motivation to message any labs” I can totally relate, but in my experience it is a lot easier than i thought and a lot of researchers were really supportive
